Drilling

Hardings Steel in North Vancouver is dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of services for all of our clients throughout the Lower Mainland. We own leading edge equipment that allows us to satisfy the needs of every project. Among our various metal fabrication tools is a radial arm drill, which allows us to drill and tap holes into a metal component. This is an integral part of the metal fabrication process.
Drilling vs Tapping
While some of our clients are quite familiar with trade terminology, others may not realize the difference between drilling and tapping. Drilling is the process of creating smooth holes in a metal component. After a hole has been drilled, it can also be tapped. Tapping is the process where a thread is created in the side of the hole, to allow for a screw or bolt to be inserted. This can be particularly useful when working on a project that requires onsite welding and installation.
